A note of thanks…
It is unfortunate that this election has taken such a slanderous turn and that there is so much mis-information being disseminated, primarily via Political Action Committees (PACS).
Amidst all of the negative campaigning what is unfortunately being missed is what Mayor Heitmann and Council members along with the City Manager Jay Boodheshwar and his team have accomplished and albeit during the unprecedented challenges they have faced —with Covid early on and Hurricane Ian more recently.
Many are not aware of the monumental effort and tremendous dedication and personal sacrifices involved on the part of the City Manager, staff, the Mayor and members of Council…all working together together to address the enormous challenges the city faced both during the hurricane and recovering from the storm.
City of Naples Vision Plan Priorities
The mayor and Council members have worked diligently along with City Manager and his team to address the priorities identified by the community in the 2019 Vision Plan including preserving our small town charm and character, managing growth and development and addressing environmental issues and concerns among others. And working together they have made substantial progress in addressing the concerns of over development and environmental issues being front and center on the minds of many.
Introduced a New Era of Transparency in Decision Making
For several years many members of the community have felt blind sighted by decisions directly impacting them being made without their knowledge and/or having a meaningful opportunity to provide input. Mayor Heitmann and Council working with City Manager Jay Boodheshwar have introduced a new era of transparency in decision making in the City and greatly expanded opportunities for community involvement in the decision making process.
Amazing Talent and Dedication to Representing the Community
The Mayor and Council members serving these past few years are all extremely dedicated —each in their own way and with utmost integrity- to doing what they genuinely felt was in the best interest of the community. Collectively, they are one of the most talented, caring and dedicated group of elected representatives on the dais in recent history.
We owe them our sincere gratitude for all that they have accomplished despite the unprecedented challenges they have faced.
